FILM TACKLES DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
by Tom Kelly
A new film directed by award winning director Larry Rosen and starring Samantha
Hoefer takes aim at domestic violence. Another Heart Breaks tells the poetic
story of a woman (played by German born Hoefer) and her ignoring of the warning
signs about her abusive relationship. The film is told from the perspective of
the woman after she has been murdered by her partner.
“It isn’t realistic to just say go get help. But by showing a story about a woman who makes excuses protecting her abusive boyfriend, even after she has been killed by him, creates a powerful message,” said Rosen. Hoefer said, “To be able to tell a story as an actor that has the ability to affect people and help them, is a great thing.” Hoefer’s strong performance and haunting dialogue make for a film that will make people think twice about remaining in a relationship that has the warning signs of violence and abuse.
The film has screened at the ShortsNonStop film festival and will be making its New Jersey premiere in August 2015 at the Brightside Film Festival.
