SUMPTUOUS FILM FESTIVAL BRINGS FILM MAGIC TO AUDIENCE by Stacy Fisher
September 14, 2015
The Sumptuous Film Festival just held it's sixth annual festival in New York City. "This year brought out the magic to the audience," said Festival Assistant Director Fred Lucas. "Our goal was to get the audience as involved in the festival as possible. Encourage them to ask questions and think about what they saw" said Lucas.Having had the privilege of attending a few of the screenings, the moderators really did encourage a round table atmosphere where the audience could connect with the filmmakers in attendance. During the two day festival, they screened 14 films. The selected films were out of almost 100 submissions. Of the screened films, 7 were from NY, 3 from NJ, 3 from other parts of the US, and 1 International.
The festival has an array of known veteran filmmakers and up and coming filmmakers. Among the lineup was Greenland, which was nominated for Sundance Grand Jury Prize and qualified for BAFTA. Greenland is about a slacker who is packing his things to move out of his parent's house, but is constantly distracted from his task.
The festival concluded with an awards ceremony and after party. With such a spectacular display of film art, I can't wait until next year's festival.
